Examples of star cities in the 1940's:

North-East corner of Calais, France in the 1940's.

Much of the outer walling remained in Toulon, in the 1940's.

Ulm was a largish Star City, surrounded by many satellites. It sat surrounded by an exquisite field system.
There is a thread looking at Ulm in greater detail at http://www.starforts.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=132

Classic 'organic' type street layout is abundant in the centre of Rome, along with 'garden' type street layout and some 'port' type street layouts as you get further away from the centre.

One of the best remaining examples of a StarCiv metropolis, part of a much larger whole.

A fairly heavily devestated star - much like most in Russia and the baltic region.

There's a more in-depth look at Antwerp here -  http://www.starforts.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=264

Ingolstadt, Germany 1954. A huge amount of star, sats and oggs remained at Ingolstadt, as late as 1954.
Some gorgeous ox-bow phenomenon going on in the right hand bottom corner, either side of the central canal that ran away from Ingolstadt. Exquiste field systems, as always.
The darker area to the left of the star would have been field system - and cultivating ox-bows (which are still just visible) - but a mud flood has inundated them at some time in the past.
